You could really tell that a lot of care and thought was put into the raptor mount. Wooden Potatoes, a mainly Guild Wars 2 youtuber, showcased the raptor mount during the 3 hour post-show stream after the announcement (for those that missed it you can watch it here). These mounts look amazing both aesthetically and gameplay wise. Raptors have a long distance leap, Springers have a high vertical jump, Skimmers glide over water and quicksand, and Jackals have a blink and can travel through sand portals. Each mount has a different ability to help get over obstacles on the maps. These mounts include Raptors, Springers, Skimmers, and Jackals. In order to help us travel the map, Anet brings us mounts, which we can learn through masteries. Where in the past players often traversed Tyria via waypoints, the Crystal Desert lacks Asuran influence thus have very few waypoints. According to Anet, these maps will be bigger than the HoT maps and the Living Story 3 maps combined. The expansion is also only $29.99 this time, with the Deluxe being $59.99 and Ultimate being $79.99. In this expansion we look forward to 5 new maps, 9 specializations, a new story, a new guild hall, and the introduction of mounts. This will be the first time in 250 years since anyone has set foot there and the desert has changed dramatically in that time. Path of Fire continues from the finale of Living Story Season 3, with the player setting off to the Crystal Desert, the immense desert area south of Ascalon. To our immense relief and excitement, Arenanet was able to deliver with their announcement by talking about all the new content we’ve been excited to hear about. Some were still disappointed with Heart of Thorns, which asked for a high price tag, lacked content, and brought about a long content drought. Many fans, including me, had worries that Arenanet would not be able to put enough hype behind their new expansion. After 2 years since Heart of Thorns was released, Arenanet finally announced the next expansion: Path of Fire.
